1668 Samuel Lothrop I moves to Norwich, CT.
1675 Samuel Lothrop II marries Hannah Adgate in Norwich, CT.
1685 Samuel Lathrop III born, Norwich, CT.
1715 Samuel Lathrop III marries Deborah Crow, Norwich, CT.
1718 Ezra Lathrop born, Norwich, CT.
Prior to 1742, Samuel Lathrop III moves with his family to Newent, CT (just outside Norwich).
1742 Ezra Lathrop marries Charity Perkins, Newent, CT.
1754 Elkanah Lathrop born, probably in Newent, CT.
1781 (Sep. 6) - Tories burn New London, CT (Battle of Groton Heights)
Benedict Arnold and his British soldiers looted, then set fire to, New London. This likely was the reason Elkanah moved his family to Vermont. Benedict Arnold and Elkanah Lathrop were 2nd cousins, great-grandchildren of Samuel Lothrop II and Hannah Adgate.
1790 Elkanah Lathrop appears in the Census of Fairfax, Franklin (then Chittenden) County, VT.
1793 Russell Lathrop born, Fairfax, VT.
1799/1800 Elkanah sells his land in Fairfax, VT.
1801 Elkanah Lathrop's grandson Augustus (son of Erastus) born, Sutton, Canada.
Prior to 1811, Elkanah Lathrop moves with his family to Richford, VT, probably around the time the British began confiscating land in Canada leading up to the War of 1812.
1811 Elkanah's daughter Hannah marries Daniel Janes, Richford, VT.
1815 Russell Lathrop marries Cynthia Powell, Richford, VT.
1817 Erastus Lathrop, older brother of Russell, moves with his family from Vermont to Indiana.
1837 Russell Lathrop moves with his family to Indiana (see Illinois Pioneers).
